We are seeking for 20 to 30 ranked chess players (i.e., with Elo or BCF), fluent English speakers, and aged 18 to 60, for a study on chess players’ memory of chess positions.
The study consists of 5 computer-based tasks: Two memory tasks with chess boards; one with chess-related words; one non-chess-related memory task; and an intelligence test. The all procedure will take approximatively 90 minutes. At the end of the experiment you will be debriefed about the aim of the experiment.
The experiment will take place at the Eleanor Rathbone Building, Bedford Street South, Liverpool, L69 7ZA.
About the Experimenters
Giovanni Sala: Ph.D. candidate in Psychology at the University of Liverpool. His main interests are chess players’ expert behaviour.
Fernand Gobet: Full Professor of Psychology at the University of Liverpool. He is one of the most important researcher worldwide in the field of expertise.
